The son of funk legend George Clinton, George E. Clinton Jr., was found dead in his Florida home on Monday, February 1, 2010. The Leon County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Plantations at Pine Lake apartments on Halstead Boulevard at 12:30 p.m. Monday where they discovered the body.
George Clinton Jr. is the son of funk musician George Clinton who is the founding member of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic also a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
A maintenance person at the apartment complex had gone inside the apartment to check on the welfare of the resident after he had not seen him in a couple of days. George Clinton Jr.'s body has been identified and was taken to the morgue. It appeared as if he has been dead for several days. The cause of death is undetermined but there were no signs of foul play.
Friends of the family have notified George Clinton (68) of his son's death.
